Hi, I’m Matt. I started Tyga from my home in Cheltenham after a long and frustrating journey to master the art of cooking authentic Indian dishes. I longed for the dishes I’d experienced on a trip to India back in 2008. The chef at my local Indian restaurant, Shahin, showed me how to rustle up the most amazing meals.
Years later I hadn’t really increased my repertoire and I was always struggling to find the endless list of ingredients and the time to cook the recipes. I’d been inspired by the TV series “Rick Stein’s India” where Rick talked about the amazing spices on offer and how fresh they were. I remembered back to my marketing days at “Kenco” where we had created coffee pods to seal in the flavour and take the hassle out of making proper coffee. I realised that the same principal could be applied to a range of beautiful spice and paste blends. Portion sized sealed pots would lock in the flavour and deliver amazing curries with half the faff….the idea for Tyga was born. Amazingly a few weeks later on holiday in Venice, we bumped into Rick Stein filming his TV series “From Venice to Istanbul”. This was the moment I decided to make Tyga a reality.
1 year on and we’ve come along way. Over 1,000 boxes were sold in the first 3 months. We launched the Tyga website and we are expanding the range to include a range of meal kits for retail. The feedback from our customers has been amazing and we look forward to continuing to bring authentic Indian cooking into your home for your family and friends to enjoy!
